THE HISTORY
It is believed that today’s Japanese civilization originated in Kyushu. According to Japanese mythology, the Tennō (emperor) family comes from Kyushu. Historically, Nordkyushu is one of the possible locations of Yamataikoku, which describes an ancient state in Japan that is mentioned in 3rd century chinese documents. Because Kyushu is closer to mainland Asia than the other main Japanese islands, trade between Kyushu and other East Asian countries has been extensive since ancient times.
